Music has an undeniable knack for speaking the universal language we all somehow understand without taking a single lesson. It’s the background score to our everyday routines, the instant mood-fixer after a long day, and the thread that seamlessly ties different cultures, stories, and emotions together. To celebrate this timeless art form, the students of Grade 9 took center stage to host a special assembly for International Music Day. Through vibrant performances and heartfelt presentations, they reminded us all how music shapes our lives, fuels our creativity, and brings our school community together one beat at a time.

Celebrating International Music Day on stage was an incredible experience as our dancers brought together the rich heritage of traditional Nepali folk rhythms and the high-octane energy of modern English hip-hop. The showcase featured a graceful solo performance that honored cultural storytelling, a dynamic duo routine packed with sharp hip-hop synchronization, and an explosive group finale that seamlessly blended traditional movement with modern beats. Merging these distinct styles created a vibrant fusion that captivated the audience and perfectly captured the universal spirit of International Music Day.

We had a variety of melodic performances as well, ranging from Nepali pop ballads to English alternative rock and indie. This showcase featured Grade 9’s very own band, several solos, duets, and group performances, and even a group song from the entirety of the grade. Like the dancers, the singers were jam-packed with energy and put on a captivating performance for the audience. This showcase revealed the hidden talents, unity and diversity of this grade. Many songs were Nepali classics that undeniably had the parents nostalgic, while others were modern indie tracks that the younger crowd enjoyed just as much.

As the assembly drew to a close, grade 9’s special assembly was more than just a tribute to International Music Day, it was a reminder that no matter our differences, music always gives us a reason to tune in, connect, and celebrate together. A huge round of applause to our ninth graders for setting such an inspiring tone for the rest of the year.
