JOHN DEWEY CUP

Smells Like Team Spirit

═════════════════════

Over eight action-packed days, spanning from September 20th to September 28th. Our campus turned into an arena of raw athletic passion, deafening cheers, and unforgettable sportsmanship as we hosted the John Dewey Cup

With a record-breaking 43 schools stepping onto our grounds to contend for glory, the energy was electric from day one. Not even a mid-tournament monsoon interruption on Friday could dampen the momentum; as soon as the rains cleared, our athletes returned to the courts and pitches with renewed fire.

Here is how the tournament played out across all divisions, along with authentic voices from the sidelines and the field.

The Tournament Breakdown

Basketball (Boys & Girls)
The hardwood witnessed some of the most fast-paced, high-stakes action of the entire week. While John Dewey put up a relentless effort in both divisions, hard-fought matches ultimately saw Everest claim the championship title in the Boys’ division, while Boudha Children Heaven Boarding School took home the trophy in the Girls’ division following an incredible display of tactical precision.

Under-12 Football (Boys)
Our youngest squad played with heart, skill, and maturity far beyond their years, battling their way all the way to the championship match. In a thriller of a final, Rai School edged ahead to take top honors, leaving John Dewey with a proud 2nd Place silver finish after an inspiring tournament run.

Voices from the Field: Player Testimonies

> Anavi (Girls’ Basketball) says:

“It was such an incredible experience overall. One of my personal highlights was powering through to convert a contested layup against three defenders! Our final match against Newton was easily our toughest challenge, but the respect between our teams was amazing—after the whistle, we ended up running half-court games together just for the fun of it. The sportsmanship throughout the tournament was so warm and welcoming.”

> Ashna (Girls’ Football) says:

“Exhilarating from start to finish! Winning on our home ground was pure magic, though it’s definitely bittersweet now that it’s over.”

> Jorden (Under-16 Football) says:

“It was an emotional tournament for me. Being my final JD Cup, I was eager to make every minute on the pitch count. Even though I didn’t get as much playing time as I had hoped, supporting the squad from the bench and wearing the school colors one last time meant everything.”

> Kritish (Boys’ Basketball) says:

“The intensity this year was like nothing we’d prepared for. Every single team brought their best, and even when shots weren’t falling, the fellowship on the court reminded us why we play.”

> Pranam(Under-12 Football Captain) says:

“Leading the boys to second place was a massive honor. Every single player left everything on the field, and while we missed the top spot, reaching the finals showed how far we’ve come as a team.”
